Mary Frances Smith Perry, age 93, residing at Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 10, 2022.

She, born on March 25, 1929, grew up in Flushing, New York, and was a 1947 graduate of the former Immaculate Conception High School. On December 30, 1950, Mary married Harold Perry and together they had 13 beautiful children.

Mary lived a full life. She worked for sixteen years at the Saint John’s Elementary School Cafeteria, and in addition to faithfully attending mass, she volunteered with many organizations at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church including: Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters – Court #505; the Ladies of Charity, the Widow and Widowers Group, and the Prayer Line. Mary was also a former clerk of the SJE Bookstore and a weekly greeter. Mary served as an officer at Poplar Lane Court, her home for many years and was an avid Phase 10 player.

Shey is survived by her sons Harold Perry, Dennis Perry (Janet), Charles Perry (Betty Cole), all of Uniontown, Henry Perry (Yoko) of Southmills, NC, and Paul Perry (Betsy) of Terrihill, PA, as well as her daughters Doris Velicevich (John) of Greensboro, PA, Lois Handlin (Mark) of Oliphant Furnace, PA, Beth Lewis (Donald) of Canonsburg, PA, and Susan Stroplos (George) of Ft Myers, FL. Mary is also survived by 19 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, her loving brother Henry Smith (Adelaide) of Upper St. Clair, PA, “bonus” daughter Diana Cummings and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins, all of whom she kept in touch with throughout her life. Mary never met an enemy and will be missed by many friends as well.

Mary will be welcomed into the arms of her predeceased parents Mary M. (Michaels) and Henry F. Smith, loving husband Harold Perry, her sons Mark and Scott, daughters Mary Louise and Debbie and her brother James Smith.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. John R.C. Grade School or Church, to EWTN – the Catholic Channel, or St. Jude’s Hospital.

Friends will be received in the Terravecchia-Haky Home for Funerals, Inc., 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, PA 15401 on Monday August 15, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., and on Tuesday August 16, 2022 until 9:30 a.m., when prayers of transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, PA 15401 at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.

The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to the staff of Mount Macrina for taking such good care of our mother.

The Parish Prayer Service will be held on Monday at 3:30 pm.
