Jules “Alan” Scango Sr.,71, of Masontown, PA, passed away suddenly on Thursday July 5, 2018. He spent that day doing what he loved, golfing with his son, Jules and his friends.
He was born on Wednesday April 9, 1947 to Lillian (Stillwagon) and Jules Scango. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother and cherished every minute with his family.
Alan was a natural athlete and played baseball and basketball during his high school years. He excelled at basketball and played for the United States Air Force during his military service. He played softball and bowled for many years in the Masontown area and focused on golf in his later years. Alan lived a simple life; he enjoyed music, reading, his pets and the company of his friends. He was a member of The American Legion Post #423,VFW POST 747, PALS Citizen’s Club, The Italo-American Club and the F.O.E Aerie No.1932. He looked forward to their many bus trips and said “it was never about the destination, but the journey.” He loved baseball and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan going to the games as long as someone else was driving.
Alan had a quick wit and enjoyed making everyone laugh with his jokes and antics; wherever he went, he was the entertainment.
He was a gentle soul, kind, generous and a loyal friend. He will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Alan loved life and wanted to be remembered as he lived, just being a good man.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Jules Scango, Jr.; daughters, Kristin Scango and Rhiannon (Matt) Hogan; brother Jerry, and his loving and devoted sister Joyce Dills; niece Julie Dills, nephews Roger and Greg Dills, great niece and great nephew Ashley and Drew, and his cherished grandchildren Jordan, Joshua, Jacob, Hannah, Abigail and Andrew.
He will always remain the best friend and everlasting love of Sylvia Rattay.
