Geraldine Delia “Gerry” Gribble King, 91 passed away and entered eternal life on Monday, September 9, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and the family Matriarch. Gerry was born February 23, 1928 in Fairchance, PA, a daughter of the late Chauncey and Margaret McDonough Gribble.
She attended St. John’s School and was a graduate of Uniontown Beauty Academy. She was a former employee of Children’s Hospital and Uniontown County Club. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown. Gerry enjoyed gardening, watching Jeopardy and the Sci-Fi Channel, trips to Myrtle Beach with her family, playing Solitaire, a good cup of Taster’s Choice Coffee, a sweet slice of watermelon, and baking for family and friends. Her specialties were Pecan Tassies, Cranberry Nut Bread, lemon cake, and Texas Sheet Cake. Most recently she enjoyed playing Bingo and other activities with her friends at Mt. Macrina Manor. Gerry was affectionately known as Grandma King to not only her grandchildren but also their friends. She was a kind, sweet, sincere, and witty lady who overcame a congenital birth defect but never let it define who she was. She is gone from our lives but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Edward A. King, Sr.; Sisters, Florence Cooke, Gertrude Cameron, Virginia Thomas; and brother Chauncey Gribble.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Bryner and husband Mark, Chalk Hill; Edward King, Jr. and wife Debora, Uniontown; and Mary Over and husband James, Uniontown; Grandchildren, Carly Miller, Ryann Over, Mark Bryner, Jr. (Jamie), Nathan King, Cory Over (Lauren), Molly King, Haley King, Taylor Bryner, and Christian Bryner; Great Grandchildren, McKena and Mason Bolish, Willow Delia Lisac, Emmett and Elyn Griffiths, and Addison and Mark Bryner, III; Sister-in-Law, Suzanne King, Brother-in-Law, Larry King, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Baker-Terravecchia Funeral Home, Inc., 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, PA, on Friday September 13, 2019 from 2-8 p.m.; and on Saturday September 14, 2019 until 9:30 AM when prayers of transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, Pa 15401 at 10AM.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mt. Macrina Manor for the loving care and compassion shown to their mother and grandmother and the Sisters of St. Basil the Great for the daily pastoral care given.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Gerry to Mt. Macrina Manor Activity Fund or St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown.
